Vegan Dog Diet
It does not always have to be meat, but can you really feed your four-legged friend vegan? The vast majority of dog owners say "no" to veganism inside of the dog bowl. But as a snack in between vegan treats are wonderfully suitable for dog nutrition, because the meat or fish requirements of the four-legged friend are usually completely covered by the daily food ration. Vegan snacks are usually not only super healthy and good for the dog figure - they are also totally easy to make. We at William Walker show you today two delicious recipes for a fresh and vegan variety for the dog's palate.
1. Vegetable Dog Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 70 gr. vegetables (e.g. carrots and peas)
- 80 gr. spelt flakes
- 160 gr. spelt flour
- 1 tbsp dried rosemary or basil
- 1 tbsp linseed oil
- a dash of water
Wash the vegetables, peel if necessary, and cut into small pieces and then grate or mash so that a vegetable porridge is formed. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and flakes. Then add the linseed oil, dried herbs and vegetable mixture and mix everything well with a hand mixer. Finally you add about 50 ml of water and continue mixing until the mixture becomes a dough. Roll this out to about ½ cm thick on a floured surface and portion as desired with a knife or cookie cutter. Bake the vegetable cookies at 160 degrees for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
2. Crispy Dog Chips
Ingredients:
- 1 parsnip
- 1 sweet potato
- 1 beetroot
- a dash of linseed oil
- some dried basil or rosemary
Wash and peel the vegetables and then process them into slices with a slicer. Now mix the slices in a bowl with the linseed oil and the dried herbs and then lay them out on a baking tray covered with baking paper. The slices should not overlap. Now bake the whole thing for about 45 minutes at 140 degrees on convection until the chips are nice and crispy. Open the oven door in between once or twice, so that the steam can escape. Let cool well and ready are the delicious and healthy dog chips.
