#wwrecipes - summer in your dog's bowl

We have wonderfully warm days behind us. Summer has arrived and has been bringing us high temperatures for weeks. While visits to the outdoor pool, beach or swimming lake provide the necessary cooling, it can also be really uncomfortable in the apartment or at work. Airy clothing, a cold shower, ice-cold drinks and light food make the particularly hot days bearable when the sun is burning at its zenith. For our beloved four-legged friends, summer can sometimes even become an ordeal, because in addition to their warm fur coat, their body temperature is about 2 °degrees higher than ours. Dogs also cannot sweat, but have to regulate their temperature by panting or through their ears. So it is quite normal that our four-legged friends are tired on the particularly warm days, have less hunger and retreat into dark rooms. The need of food is smaller in the summer than in the other cooler seasons. Just like us humans, they feel like eating light foods, fresh fruit and putting as little strain on their digestive organs as possible. At William Walker we're sharing two great summer dog bowl recipes with you today!

Summer recipes for your dog - light and low carb dishes

Williams Hydration Salad (Healthy watermelon salad with feta cheese)

Ingredients:

  • ¼ watermelon without seeds (or remove seeds!)
  • 150 gr feta cheese
  • ½ cucumber
  • 2 tablespoons linseed oil
  • some parsley (chopped)

Drinking plenty of water is especially important for your dog in the summer. With Williams Hydration Salad you can help your dog ideal and tasty. To do this, simply cut ¼ watermelon without peel into pieces and be sure to remove all seeds or buy a seedless watermelon - seeds are toxic to dogs. The feta and cucumber also dice and add to the melon. Now mix the whole thing with about two tablespoons of our William Walker Linseed Oil Lucky Love for better digestibility and refine with some finely chopped parsley. Ready is the delicious watermelon snack for your four-legged friend!

Williams chicken feast (roasted chicken with mango apple puree)

Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breast fillets
  • some basil
  • 1 mango
  • some water
  • 1 apple

In summer low-calorie and easily digestible meat is particularly good. Fry the chicken breast fillets with a little oil (preferably sunflower oil) in a pan until well done. After that the chicken can be cut into mouth-watering pieces and set aside to cool. Now wash, peel, core and cut the mango and apple into small cubes. Put some water in a pot and bring to a simmer. Add the cut fruit and simmer on low heat under a lid for about 15-20 minutes. Finally, add chopped basil to the finished fruit puree and let it cool properly. Put all the ingredients together in the bowl and voilá - ready is the delicious, light, sweet-tart summer treat.
